EMMA GRANN
Emma Grann is a lifestyle, fashion and portrait photographer based in Kungsbacka, Sweden.
MEET EMMA
Emma Grann is a full-time freelance photographer and filmmaker. Her main focus has always been to capture people one way or the other, mixing lifestyle, fashion and portrait photography. She started out taking pictures of her friends and siblings in her backyard and took her camera everywhere she went. This led to her starting a blog in 2009 to share all the photos, which became popular within the photography community.
”- I always knew I loved photography, but it wasn’t until I graduated school and didn't know what to do that I figured ’maybe I can make this my job’ and after that I’ve never looked back", Emma says.
Emma is born in Gothenburg and moved to Stockholm in 2014 to study commercial photography. In 2016 she finished her studies at Fotoskolan STHLM and got a job as an assistant photographer. She thinks one of the best ways to get into the photography business is to assist other photographers and learn from them by going to real jobs and also become familiar with all the equipment used on set. It made her more confident in what to do when she started getting her own jobs.
In 2019, Emma moved back to Gothenburg and co-founded Studio Femme together with five other creators. In Studio Femme, they work as a team with everything from large productions such as campaigns, lookbooks and product images to simpler assignments as individual creators for, for example, content for social media, corporate portraits and retouching. They are now based in both Gothenburg, Stockholm and Malmö. Emma is now working for a wide range of commercial and editorial clients in Sweden and abroad.
EMMA'S TOP 3 SIGMA LENSES
SIGMA 28mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- If I have to choose a lens that is my favorite over-all, it would be the 28mm 1.4 Art.
Since 2014, there has always been a fixed 28mm in my camera bag and sometimes I think that my whole visual language is a bit based on how I see the world through this lens.
Of course, I use other lenses but there is something extra with the 28, we clicked from the first click.
SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- A classic, I honestly wouldn’t go anywhere without this lens.
It was my very first fixed lens and I’ve been hookes ever since! It’s so sharp and I love it both for studio photography and on location.
In my opinion, if you don’t know which lens to get, this is a great pick for the beginner and the professional.
SIGMA 20mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- This is new favorite for me. Since I mostly do fashion and commercial work, I thought this one might be to wide-angled for me, but I’ve learned to really like the photos you can create with this one. And it’s perfect for behind the scenes material when you’re usually out of space trying to fit everything in a picture. For example, when I’m backstage at Copenhagen Fashion Week with 30-40 other photographers struggling to get the best shot. Love playing around with this one!
